With a new Kaiju threat on the horizon, Jake Pentecost and his son, Stacker leads a new generation of Jaeger pilots to fight them.

This movie is a sequel to 'Pacific Rim' and picks up from where it stopped one decade ago. Although it starts off with a new and intriguing angle, it soon goes through the familiar threats of the kaiju returning to wreak havoc.

Among the few new recruits this time around, Amara Namani does a good job, but Scott Eastwood, son of the famous father, Clint Eastwood should have done better, and there was almost an obvious lack of chemistry between the two pilots Jake Pentecost and Nate Lambert.

One thing that doesn’t sit so well with this sequel is that the humour appears forced. They also try to tell you at every opportunity they have that this is an action blockbuster. If you like some more depth in your action films, this is not the movie for you.

Even though they have brought in Star Wars' John Boyega there isn't much element of surprise with this sequel and it does go from start to finish a little too fast, so much so that you will need to watch it at least twice to get the plot thoroughly.

They have used the standard bad boy turns good type scenario for a bit of feeling but it doesn't take away the fact that this is a simple big robots versus big creatures film. Although better than the first, it is twenty minutes shorter but they have crammed in as much destruction as possible in as short a time as possible and of course within budget. There's not much more imagination than the first but fans of the first film will certainly get their money's worth if they are keen on Transformers that have decided to dabble in narcotics.
