The Pregnancy Scheme, directed by Ann Marie Fleming, offers a compelling exploration of the depths of desperation that a single, pregnant woman can experience and the measures she may be driven to take in order to secure financial stability and a brighter future.

As a made-for-television movie, The Pregnancy Scheme delivers precisely what one would anticipate in terms of acting and script. While it may not reach the heights of a cinematic masterpiece, it successfully fulfills its role as a straightforward and conventional thriller that challenges one's ethical compass and provokes contemplation.

In alignment with the genre's nature, the film allows little room for extensive dialogue, ensuring that the narrative remains tightly focused on its central plotline. Greta Carew-Johns and Ruth Bidner deliver commendable performances, embodying their characters with authenticity, while Nick Preston's portrayal of Drew adds a sinister and intriguing layer of support.

Overall, The Pregnancy Scheme prompts introspection regarding the lengths individuals might be compelled to go to acquire financial means and calls into question the boundaries of personal ethics. It stands as an above-average thriller that I would readily recommend to those I encounter. Please note, the mention of a "final bump" was not intended as a pun, merely an innocent remark 🙂
