Think this is Tom Hank best acting he's ever done, especially at the end!

I'll wait for Captain Phillips 2 - The Revenge.

 by Oakie Britcher

Based on the true story from April 2009, Captain Phillips captures the genuine fear and tribulations of the crew of the U.S. containership Maersk Alabama.

The blend of handheld camerawork and eerily convincing acting from the entire cast create a truly absorbing and compelling two-hour narrative.

Despite a relatively mundane introduction with a conversation between Hanks' Captain Phillips and his wife, we are quickly transported to a poverty-stricken Somali village to become acquainted with our band of antagonists. The high intensity of Paul Greengrass' picture begins here and rarely takes time to rest until the climax.

The story, however questionable it is to the real events aboard the Maersk Alabama, is gripping throughout thanks to standout performances from Tom Hanks as Captain Phillips and Barkhad Abdi as Muse, the leader of the pirates.

Captain Richard Phillips' actions while heroic in this picture are contested in witness accounts of what really happened on the ship, however, this does little to detract from the events of the film, where a captivating adventure is prioritised over accuracy.

This high-octane reimagining of a real-life hijacking is likely to leave a mark on you, probably putting to bed any ambitions you had of working at sea.
