I am not one to watch science fiction films as I would rather read history or watch movies adapted from real life stories. However, I did enjoy watching The Matrix after several persuasions from friends to watch it.

There has been several opinions about this movie, many of whom are positive and I can see why all the hypes. The action sequences are topnotch, the production was also impressive especially when you consider that this is one of the earliest use of CGI to make a movie.

Keanu Reeves as usual played his role to perfection, I fell in love with Lawrence Fishburne after watching his performance here and I thought Carrie Ann Moss was also impressive.

This movie really showcased the production talents of the Wachowski brothers. I had a good time watching it because I didn’t find the action as outrageous as some science fiction films are known for.

The matrix realised 1999 almost being a decade old still holds up to this day and is one of the most influential Sc-fi/action movies of it’s generation. The Matrix followes the protagonist Neo who is led by a misterous women named Trinity, to who is considered the most dangerous man alive Morpheus, who can answer Neo’s question of what the Matrix is.

The movie brilliantly establishes it’s world and ideals , by philosophically discussing themes such as identity, corruption and destiny, alought there are a couple of heavy expansion scenes that slow down the pace, the movie still manages to keep the viewer interested with it’s flashy action scenes, incorporating elements such as Kung fu and shoot outs using bullet time, where we see bullets fly in slow motion, which was popularised by this movie.

In conclusion The Matrix is a most watch for any Sc-if action fan, or even someone who enjoys Kung fu movies, however I wouldn’t recommend it’s two sequels.
