Nothing will ever beat the original Predator film with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers and others based on the tall bountyhunter-esque alien have proved it.
The last outing, The Predator, in 2018, was forgettable despite doing well at the box office, but Predator Prey sounds like it may have legs.
Filming is apparently ongoing with it likely to be cast during the American Civil War – between 1861-1865 – primarily focused on a Comanche woman who not only has to overcome the males in her tribe to prove she can fight, but also a 7ft alien with an appetite for hunting humans.
Most new films have had an undeterred focus on female protagonists recently and Predator Prey appears to be no different. Rumours are rife that Amber Midthunder was cast as the lead role of a Comanche called Kee.
One on one’s against the Predator have generally worked best and with Kee not able to rely on high tech machine guns we could see the bow and arrow make a new appearance since Arnie used it all those years ago.
Former Disney CEO Bob Iger has mentioned that the film will retain it’s R-rated properties and Shane Black, should return to direct again. In fact, he mentions the 2018 version was a sort of start to a trilogy with Prey being the second.
Filming has been ongoing despite the current difficulties with Predator Prey rumoured to be 66% complete at the time of writing.
