The Knives Out murder mystery sequel starring Daniel Craig, called “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” will close the 66th BFI London Film Festival on October 16th according to the Festival director Tricia Tuttle.

Knives Out was a huge success back in 2019 and it’s successor Glass Onion is expected to garner similar success after its Premier in Toronto.

The sequel sees Craig’s character, Detective Benoit Blanc, head out to Greece for a new mystery full of new suspects.

The close of the 66th BFI will then see the film released across cinemas in the UK, with Director Rian Johnson telling Variety.com “I’m thrilled to be back at LFF with ‘Glass Onion,’ and it’s an honor to be closing the festival. A proper whodunnit really does belong in London, so it feels a bit like coming home.”

Tuttle, who is delighted to have Glass Onion close the BFI wrote: ” Rian Johnson strikes gold again with the help of the year’s hottest ensemble cast. Like its predecessor, ‘Glass Onion’ is entertaining and culturally literate in equal measure, making some hilarious, razor sharp observations about the world we live in. The European premiere of ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ will bring the house down as the closing gala of the 66th BFI London Film Festival.”

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery stars Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Jessica Henwick, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista. The latter of which worked with Craig on the James Bond film Spectre.

The 66th BFI full programme of events will be released September 1st, whilst the Festival takes place between October 5th – 16th.
