Daniel Craig returns as Ian Flemming’s James Bond in his fifth outing as the suave secret agent. But this time will be a little different. So what is the new James Bond film, No Time To Die, about?
Due to the pandemic the film has had to be put back for release numerous times. Although this keeps us salivating it does mean that certain bits of the film have been leaked, so what do we know so far?
No Time To Die takes place five years after Spectre and Blofeld’s arrest. Cuckoo! Bond is retired, likely giving his liver more punishment than usual. Enter Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, his old CIA buddy who needs some help catching uber-intelligent terrorist Lyutsifer Safin, played by Freddie Mercury… I mean Rami Malek.
Lyutsifer is described by director Cary Fukunaga as “more dangerous than anyone (Bond has) ever encountered” plus a “hyper-intelligent and worthy adversary”. Now we hear this for each and every Bond film. It was previously rumoured that Malek would play a new version of Dr No.
Naomie Harris returns as Eve Moneypenny and claims the film is full twists, whilst Bonds love interest (and we think potential wife) Léa Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann suggests we’ll probably cry during the film. Excited yet?
Well as Bond is retired there has to be a new 007 and there is in Lashana Lynch as Nomi who suffers a little from anxiety. Which 00 agent wouldn’t with what they tend to go through?
Amongst other rumours are that James Bond has a son with Dr Swann and even the possibbility that Bond himself succombs to death.
We’d rule the latter out surely but No Time To Die, even if it’s just half as good as those close to the film make out, should be a cinema fest of fireworks, emotions, and potential mourning.
No Time To Die is finally set for release on 30th September 2021 in the UK and the 8th October 2021 in the US.
