In two words "good fun". The Lair had exactly what I wanted from an action horror film but I expect it will get mid range reviews elsewhere, for me this is the higher end of 3 stars, a 3.6 perhaps.

The Lair gives us the action right at the start and the moment RAF pilot Lt. Kate Sinclair is shot down we get the mystery as she stumbles upon an old bunker with enemy forces moving in, where we quickly see what has been going on.

Inside the bunker she does come across what looks to be some bio contaminated monster which looks good to be honest, a bit of The Thing in there with its long tentacles but all monsters have very much been done with not much else left to our imagination. After escaping the bunker and Taliban she is quickly found by US soldiers and taken to their outpost. It gets a little poorer from here as the alien monster starts attacking the outpost but still an OK watch. We get a grim autopsy then the planned attack back on the bunker.

The Lair will be enjoyed by those who like films soldiers looking to rescue someone against all odds with the twist of a possibly alien killer (or more) on the loose and I'd certainly recommend it.
