Watched this again in peace and quiet last night and it is better the 2nd time around.
You will need to watch this at least twice to "get it".
Much like his books, Lovecraft's imagination does go wild and the film does do the book justice. Yes, it's weird, and yes you'll want a few drinks before and during watching The Deep One's but it does need concentration and they are some moments in this film that work very well.
Two words: It sucked!
Apt title given how deep you have to dive into your brain to get this film.
Going to have to watch this twice to fully understand what the hell went on.

I think the reviews of The Deep Ones on here are a bit harsh tbh. Yes it's weird but then Lovecraft was. The characters aren't as developed as you'd expect but having watched it twice now I get it a lot more.
Don't get me wrong, its still quite bad but not worthy of 1 star.
As mentioned by another reviewer, total facepalm unless you're on something I suppose.
No real horror on this. Please don't waste your time and buy me a beer for saving you the time if you ever see me
You know when you film your friends after a few drinks? Well those are way better than this.
