Matriarch is a handy little horror with a fresh storyline despite the end product being something every horror film fan will have seen a thousand times already.

Hulu's latest production has the creepiness you want and the light piano music to send shivers up and down your spine and the British acting is excellent. The childhood home she visits is of course as creepy as a British village gets with spooky looking church with all the extras.

It turns out that a demon has been summoned, possibly by her family, and there's no need for super special effects, the worm scene is enough to have you wanting to throw up and a church scene towards the end should have you thinking.

There is a lot of talking in Matriarch but it doesn't distract from the substance it does have in the 85 or so minutes. It's a horror I would recommend, but not to watch alone.
