I couldn't get past 30mins of the movie in my opinion it was a disrespect to the 47 ronin. It has no heart or soul. Cheaply made and a disappointment

Thanks for your review Ts

The film was short so it has a lot of hurdles to face. But... in the end... the only thing the movie has going for it is some decent fight choreo.

The plot is weak. Very weak. The villains look stereotypically and laughibly evil. The plot twists were ALL very obvious.

It apparently builds upon the original 2013 47 Ronin... which in of itself was a forgetful film. And because of that they made no effort to lay foundation for the new film. Who would've thought that a bit of exposition would've helped a film for once?

Also the catch to the film is that there are 300 year old Samurai clans that remain hidden in modern society yet you see them walking into well known high end establishments dressed as samurai----clothing and weapons and all. I thought they were hidden?

Great action movie, loved every bit of it.

This was great fun from start to finish for me. Loads of killings, swords being swung around during fights and very good fighting sequences. Richie is right in that the enemies no one cares about don't put up much of a fight but if you get past that you've got an excellent action film. The acting is good, the talking not so much.

The main antagonist that they must fight at the end is quite the bad ass and the fight goes on long enough to maybe put it up there in the top 50 classic onscreen fights. I think a lot of people will talk about Blade of the 47 Ronin for a while.

When I was picked to watch this one I did look at the film poster and I was filled with dread. After watching Blade of the 47 Ronin I can safely say martial arts, ninja and action fans can watch this with no concerns of dread apart from one thing which I will mention later.

Blade of the 47 Ronin is a fantasy action whereby the latest flock of Ronin warriors have certain skills that border on the mystical. There are a lot of characters that you will quickly need to implant in your brain, a few twists and some old school 90's type martial arts training.

The problem was what I call the droid bad guys. Those of little importance only there to die, and die they do but without defence and you'll see what I mean from the very first action sequence. They also insist on this rather cool slow motion edit as soon as a bad guy gets sliced.

The final end fights are longer and better choreographed and the whole things does get better as you get to the end. If you love sword wielding samurai cutting people up and want an above average storyline then I'd really recommend Blade of the 47 Ronin. I was quite impressed and I'm sure Blu-ray fans will pick this one up if it makes it to the blue disc.
