There are several movies whose producers banked on the success of Saving Private Ryan to see that theirs also becomes a success, and Black Hawk Down is one of those movies.

However, I have to give credits to the makers of this movie because of how they ensured that theirs has a refreshingly different story unlike other movies that almost looks like a carbon-copy of Saving Private Ryan.

Movies with war themes could easily be too complex for people of this generation who haven’t experienced war to understand, however, this one is quite simply an enjoyable drama that has some really good young actors.

Something about American cock-ups during real life events that make them good films and Black Hawk Down hits the spot. What should be a reasonably well planned and executed mission turns into a nightmare when two of the US' blackhawks are taken down with RPG's.

Of course the American's weren't expecting to lose one chopper, let alone two and without a contingency plan things go from bad to absolute hell. The action scenes are brilliantly scary and you spare a good number of thoughts for the boots on the ground who are basically let down by their superiors thinking and planning. War film fans that like constant gun battles and a tense "how will they get out of this" situations will love Black Hawk Down.
