Ryan Reynolds’ latest film “Free Guy” will Premiere in Wrexham’s Odeon Cinema on the 10th of August, with the remainder of the UK having to wait until the official release on the 13th.
Actor Reynolds, recently purchased Wrexham Football Club so now has ties to the Welsh town and makers Disney believe it to be a nice touch to have it Premiere there instead of the usual Leicester Square, London.
An added plus is that the film will be shown to members of charities and emergency service workers in the Wrexham area, including Blood Bikes (the Wales based free courier service to the NHS) and the Nightingale House Hospice. Organised by Wrexham Council, it was felt it would be a nice way to thank the services for their support over the last 15-18 months throughout the pandemic.
Although the vast majority of the cast will sadly not be able to attend, a few will and the film is expected to receive positive reviews. Free Guy is based on an open world video game called Free City, which includes Reynolds as Guy who doesn’t realise he is in the game until later on when he is required to make changes to save the game from being taken down.
Free Guy will be available for review on WhichFilm.com from the 10th of August.
