This movie enjoys some benefits from performers who are very appealing and also from some really funny dialogues. As the father of the girl, comedian Larry Miller plays his role almost to perfection after the mother of the daughter abandoned the family. He is understandably overprotective after seeing so many teenagers turn up pregnant at his hospital.
One thing the movie does not have is mature teachers. You can almost think that the teenagers are even more mature than their so-called teachers. One of the teachers epitomizes this immaturity when she would rather write a steamy novel rather than look out for the behaviours and well-being of her students.
10 Things I Hate About You is a good teenie type movie with some good comedy moments, plenty of high school and a good soundtrack. The late Heath Ledger performs well as someone believed to be a high school rebel trying to woo Julia Stiles in exchange for money so a school colleague can get it on with her sister.
As romance develops it does end it tears when the truth comes out but is quickly turned around when they both feel their true feelings outweight their premature thoughts.
It is a romantic comedy with enough of each to keep you entertained and worthy of a watch if you have a group of girlfriends round.
