Predators, directed by Nimród Antal and released in 2010, marks a return to form for the Predator franchise after several lackluster sequels. This installment takes a fresh approach, delivering a thrilling and suspenseful experience that successfully captures the spirit of the original film.

In Predators, a group of skilled individuals from different backgrounds and with unique skills find themselves stranded on an alien planet. They soon discover that they have been selected as prey for a new breed of Predators, who have turned the planet into their hunting ground. As the group fights for survival, they must unravel the mysteries of the planet and find a way to outsmart their deadly adversaries.

Predators excels in its world-building, introducing audiences to a diverse and dangerous environment that adds depth and intrigue to the story. The planet itself becomes a character, with its lush forests, sweltering heat, and lurking dangers. This new setting expands the Predator universe and provides a fresh playground for the hunt to unfold.

The ensemble cast, including Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, and Alice Braga, delivers strong performances, each bringing their unique strengths and vulnerabilities to their respective characters. Adrien Brody shines as Royce, a hardened mercenary thrust into a leadership role, showcasing both physical prowess and emotional depth. The chemistry among the cast members adds an additional layer of tension and camaraderie.

Predators pays homage to the original film while also introducing new elements to keep things fresh. It successfully captures the intense atmosphere of the first Predator, balancing moments of action, suspense, and a sense of impending danger. The film builds tension through expert pacing and the gradual reveal of the Predators and their methods, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.

The action sequences in Predators are thrilling and well-executed, featuring inventive kills and intense predator-prey encounters. The practical effects and creature design are impressive, blending seamlessly with CGI to bring the Predators to life. The film also delves into the Predators' culture and hierarchy, offering glimpses into their society and rituals.

While Predators is a highly enjoyable entry in the franchise, it does have some minor flaws. The characterization of certain side characters could have been stronger, with some feeling underdeveloped or simply serving as fodder for the Predators. The dialogue, at times, leans towards the cliché and lacks the sharpness and memorable lines of the original film.

In summary, Predators is a thrilling and suspenseful addition to the Predator franchise that successfully captures the essence of the original film. With its intriguing world-building, strong performances, and well-executed action sequences, it breathes new life into the series. If you're a fan of the Predator franchise or enjoy sci-fi action films with a touch of suspense, Predators is a worthy watch that will keep you engaged from start to finish.

Even though you see a bit too much of the aliens they've done a good job on this and much better than Predator 2. The planet is well thought out although physically I'm not sure the surrounding planets would be possible for gravitational reasons.

Lot's of action and different "death by alien" scenes but the ease in which some of them are killed makes it look like Arnie really struggled in the first movie. There's also a few twists in this one which I like and gives more of an air of mystery to it than expected. Fans of the franchise will enjoy it.

This fifth installation of Predators shows just how far down the movie franchise have come. The movie has obviously lost most of its charm from the days of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Perhaps if the producers have added some refreshingly original ideas into the movie, it may have been more exciting.

Although Adrien Brody is one of the best actors around, he struggles here because he has to follow a script that seem boring – turn from being the hunted to becoming the hunter and survive no matter what happens.

Although the makers of this movie did try to add some special effects that could get your attention once in a while, however, you’d still end up feeling this was just another predictable Sci-fi film.
