I have an affinity towards Ireland so I may be a little bias here. God’s Creatures is a tough drama that not only shows the harshness of what a relationship between mother and son can be but also for a community that relies on one industry to get by.

The scenery as you can imagine has its own wind swept and wave filled beauty that harsh weather can display. The acting is tense, realistic and has that element of simplicity that it needed and which was carried out by the actors with the utmost quality.

There are those that will find God’s Creatures boring but I urge you to come down a peg or two from the likes of Marvel films to enjoy what both Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer have directed for us here.

Also, if it doesn't make you want to jump on a ferry over to the Irish coasts for a warming Irish whiskey and a dance then nothing will.
