Don't get me wrong, White Noise had some very good acting performances, particularly from Greta Gerwig for me, but the story was confusing. At first I felt I was watching a disaster comedy but the disaster in White Noise never really happened, and then it switched to very much the aftermath of the aforementioned "disaster" diving into a deep drama.

White Noise is definitely not your usual disaster style film and I certainly wouldn't place it in the horror genre. I believe it was predominantly made for the Oscars rather than to entertain the mass market. Would it be better on a second viewing? Maybe, but it's a lot of work at over two hours long and I dare say even those with Oscar votes won't be watching twice.

There is a quality about White Noise though that takes it to an excellent level, it just doesn't quite finish well, like polishing an old car but stopping and moving onto something else when you're starting to get somewhere with it.
