The story adapted in this movie is one of my favourite stories and it is a good one at that, but the execution here was quite poor to be honest. You’d expect a movie in 2016 to have one of the best computer graphics, but the quality of the computer graphics here was quite poor and disappointing.
I was so unimpressed while watching this movie that I had to search Mario Van Peebles to see how he looks. How could he direct a movie as poor as this despite having a good cast.
I think this is probably one of the worst directed movies I have ever watched and I don’t want to believe that any editing job was done here, because it was such a terrible job.
Should have been a lot better, the sharks were really bad! It might cost a bit more money but I woulda thought with the history behind the ship they would have been more respectful by putting more effort into it and not cutting corners on it.
I think they had the right idea with Indianapolis but it feels like they haven't quite finished and almost cut some corners. Most will know the true story of the ship being torpedo'd followed by the brave sailors then being eaten by sharks. They add a little romance in the beginning which is pretty much predictable and a little bit of ship viewing, then we have the typical ass-hole character who does his best to cheese a few people off.
The problem with the sharks though was their appearance and the cgi does very little to show them as real. I also image it was a hell of a lot more frightening than how the film portrayed it.
They do well to show some real life footage of the rescue at the end and let us know what happened to some of the crew. It's worth watching but it's not in the same group as say, Pearl Harbour for example.
