I thought Wickensburg was great. It's a film that I would say kids upwards of 10 years old could watch without being entirely spooked. I found the pace was well set, only about 45 seconds in and we're onto our first creepy moment as the son spots something in the woods.
Denise Richards is looking good and plays the part of "mom" very well, with a touch of sarcasm reminiscent of Christina Applegate actually.
The house they move to isn't the creepiest but all the furniture is of course covered in white covers, as is Uncle Dave who adds some comedic value to proceedings.
Kids may find Mr Hexenmeister a little creepy but all other characters are tame and the film is very much a film about friendship between a boy and girl who stumble across a secret and investigate to save the town of Wickensburg.
Wickensburg will keep the family entertained from start to finish, include some nice PG horror and show the value of friendship. I'm highly recommending this one to families.
