After seeing a couple of horror movies recently, I’m still struggling to find one that was made in the 70s that isn’t a great one to watch. I mean both big screen films and TV movies, and there is none as cool as Salem’s lot.
This movie was genuinely scary and so well-made I have enjoyed watching it on five occasions already.
There have been a number of movies made out of books by Stephen King, but Salem’s Lot is arguably the best of them and I give much credit to the directing skills of Tobe Hooper.
The movie doesn’t have as much scare as it would have had if it were not a TV series, but the 3 hours that it plays gives it enough time for the characters to be well developed and they were.
Salem's Lot remains a truly terrifying vampire story, even after all these years.
The first horror film I watched as a 14 year old teenager..... slept with one eye open for weeks listening for the tapping at the window.
Decades on and despite the dated special effects and poor acting I am still a terrified 30 something woman sleeping with one eye open!
A classic
