My Last Best Friend has been cleverly written. I can give it that, but it fails to really lift off spectacularly and the twists and turns are more like a house of mirrors where the viewer doesn't know where it's going and there is no exit.
It's a great performance by Eric Robert's who gets better and better with age and he does well to portray someone who isn't mentally well with the weight of the Covid-19 pandemic soon to come.
There's a good mystery to My Last Best Friend and that's what I would recommend to friends and family. It's a film to get you thinking, especially given the last two or three years.
