Three Thousand Years of Longing is a visual treat, there is no doubting that. The effects and visual cinematography is something special and it's a shame the story doesn't match those heights.
Perhaps it should have stayed a short story, they usually should. Making something longer than necessary isn't easy (ask my husband) but don't let that distract from the performance of Elba and in particular Tilda Swinton who is simply remarkable. I must also give kudos to a young Alithea Binnie played by the impressive Alyla Browne.
Three Thousand Years Of Longing is worth the watch 100% but keep your expectations just slightly above average.
