The Hunger Games is a brilliant film for teenagers to watch and I myself have read most of the books ( I haven’t quite read the second one yet).

There is a lot of action in this film and was quite thrilling at times.

Jennifer Lawerence is fantastic playing Katniss Everdeen and there were some other characters I love.

However it was painful to watch at times as people get shot and blood comes out.

If dystopian is your favourite kind of book then this movie is the film for you.

Overall it is a great film for teenagers but it is unsuitable for younger viewers.

“The Hunger Games” can divide people with some believing it’s more of a cringe-worthy teen fiction whilst others call it compelling, insightful story and I can safely say that I belong in the latter category.

I think that “The Hunger Games” is perhaps the best out of the trilogy (taking the two parter of Mockingjay as one complete film) as I think the concept is original and you see the games at its rawest. “The Hunger Games” is set in an alternate, dystopian universe in a fictional state called “Panem” which is divided into twelve districts. Every year, two competitors are elected from each district to compete in the annual “Hunger Games” which is a televised fight for survival. The concept is brutal but there are links and themes that are perhaps not impossible to imagine in our current world.

Jennifer Lawrence gives a wonderfully honest portrayal of Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist, and performs well at both emotional and physical scenes. Josh Hutcherson plays Peeta who is from the same district as Katniss and I think they share a great onscreen chemistry. Some argue that the acting is not believable or even the scenario, but despite being a piece of fiction, it is almost worrying in the way you could imagine this happening in modern day and I think the story is brutally honest and unflinching, which I think is what makes it so successful because it feels real.

The scenery and sets are fairly basic, but well done, in comparison to many of the competing blockbusters, but I think this adds to the film’s charm and essence, the greater dynamism coming in the later sequels.

If you’re looking for a compelling and action packed film then I would seriously recommend “The Hunger Games.”

May the odds be ever in your favor!

I watched this movie in a midnight showing with several teens who just like me, have come to see what has been made out of the now so popular book which we read back in school.

With so much anticipation built up before the movie began to show, I wasn’t so impressed by the constant dehumanization of teens. The constant show of teens killing each other did not impress me and I think this movie shows just how lowly we value human life in the society today.

I was left feeling like the movie just wanted to teach teens that killing each other was not so bad after all. This overshadowed the fact that the producers did make a good movie in terms of acting and the production.

I would not recommend the lessons to be learnt after seeing the movie but the producers made a good movie in terms of acting and sceneries.

As a fan of the Hunger Games book series, I really enjoyed this film! This film features many elements of action and adventure, as well a romantic side-plot. The costumes, special effects, makeup and hair used are exciting and bring the film to life due to the mass of colour in each shot. However, the actual plotline can be upsetting to younger viewers as the majority of scenes show the deaths and injuries of characters, as well as suggesting a sense of realism, even though it is set in a dystopian world. Overall, I would rate this book 4/5 stars due to the great acting, use of costumes, hair and makeup in order to bring the story to life. However, for fans of the book series, it does not strictly follow smaller details, although the storyline and characters are the same. Additionally, this film also features many twists and unexpected turns throughout, as well as an engaging ending which is very entertaining!

Almost every teenager has heard of this movie – and for a good reason. Full honesty here, the acting is cringy. Very cringy. Especially the romance aspects of the series. However, the general concept of this movie – the book’s storyline – is absolutely fantastic! The first movie is so engaging, I couldn’t look away.

Jennifer Laurence is great at portraying a feeling of pure fear. But we all know the only reason people love the first movie so much is because of little Rue. Amandla Stenberg is perfect for the role and anyone who watches the movie loves her.

Not only this, but the loving drunk that is Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) and the caring make up artist Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) make the whole thing a hell of a lot more exciting. If you’re going to watch one movie, it’s a rule that you must watch the others because they just get better and better the more you watch. Highly recommend!
