I watched Stars at Noon last night and have been indecisive on my thoughts regarding the film since it finished. Wondering why it dawned on me that it's actually the film that was indecisive.
Is it a thriller? A romance? A mix of the two? It's hard to decipher. What it certainly is is a little too far fetched with certain parts of Stars at Noon difficult to believe.
I think Claire Denis has done a good job with what she had to work with but I believe it could well been have shorter than the two hours plus her final cut gave us.
The cast were decent and I don't believe a star studded line up would have made much difference. I think Stars at Noon might be one of those that would need to be watched again to either fully appreciate it or confirm that it's a film that doesn't really know what it is or where it should be going.
It's interesting and one I would say each person would need to watch to make their own minds up.
