For some reason movies with plenty of violence have always appealed to me, and this one is no different, it spectacularly delivers bullets, blood and an incredible storyline and is the best and most accurate adaptation of a comic book ever. The use of black and white with splashes of colour are amazing, visually stunning and create a very dramatic effect. As I was watching it, I could see how the scenes were produced to look like parts of a comic strip, it is as close to an animated version of a comic book as it can be. All of the acting is outstanding, with amazing performances from Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba and Mickey Rouke, who deliver an incredible script, written by Frank Miller (who wrote the comics this movie is based on). Miller also directed it along with Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino While this movie isn’t for everyone, it is stylish and funny, albeit insanely violent as well as being bold, brilliant and utterly amazing and I highly recommend it.
You don't have to have read the comics to enjoy this, in fact I wasn't aware of them until I saw the film. It's basically a collection of mini films all in one that somehow link to each other with a sort of black and white feel to it, lots of action and huge cast of famous actors and actresses. There are plenty of moments to laugh to as well and if you have to watch either this or the second one then this has got to come first.
