Ocean's 8 has a great cast, great production, great editing but a very dull plot. It isn't a case of a poorly written plot or poorly staged plot instead it is something you don't always see a bad idea from the beginning. While this film has its moments I found myself bored throughout the most of it, the plot is simply meh, they go on a heist they succeed-nothing much happens.
At no point did I feel connected to the characters or have the belief that the plan wasn't going to work. I guess what I'm saying is the plot was heavily flawed although it was continuous in flow the core concept was problematic and the character development felt hollow. Despite this the actresses and actors all did a great job and little can be complained about. It isn't that this is an awful film , but it gives me no reason to come back and watch it again, some awful films have rewatchability, most great films do as well, sometimes being neither great or bad can be the worst- in this case this is true.
So perhaps I am harsh in giving this 2 stars rather than 3 but this week I have watched 14 films and this is the least rewatchable, time means money and this isn't having anymore of mine!
‘Ocean's 8’ consisted of moments of comedy and action serving as a typical summer movie. With an A-list cast proves the power of an elite force of women, yet it leaves me to question whether the movie would have completely plummeted without the famous cast. Although the movie did deliver exceptional performances from all actresses (Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, etc), it was the plotline that may have lead to this movie being less of a success in comparison to its predecessors, as it seemed quite generic and often didn’t reach a climax, which is why I gave it the rating that stands. However, this doesn’t deny the fact that there were plot twists which did improve the tempo of the film. In addition, the production quality was of a high standard and proceeded to making a clear statement by having the majority of the cast as females that oppose a basic stereotype of a woman- something Hollywood is growing to avoid which is extremely positive- as well as the cast being diverse including women of different ethnic groups. Conclusively, despite the story having its flaws, 'Ocean's 8' has that easy-going element that is a great summer watch.
