Lovely little animation, beautifully illustrated.
Beautiful story but comic style film didnt do it justice.
Don't get me wrong. Charlotte is a beautifully made animated version of artist Charlotte Salomon during World War 2. I just can't help but feel sad it wasn't deserving of a spot without the animation.
Keira Knightly does wonderfully well but would it not have been better to have seen her actual self with cinematic views of the South of France? It's certainly up for debate and I try to take nothing from it being all-animated in that I would recommend Charlotte to anyone. That question will though always remain: Why not in real life depiction?
