I'm lucky enough to have read the book by Miriam Toews on which this borefest of a film is based. The book is much better and I would advise all to read it rather than pay any part of your wage having to sit through close to two hours of the Women Talking film adaptation.
It does have excellent acting but since when did NBC skimp on wages? There are brief moments when you are fooled into thinking it's going somewhere to tell us something we don't yet know about faith and reality but then dives head first into the mud on which most of the community walk on throughout the film.
Our viewing of this I recall was very quiet with just the odd hint of note scribbling so I'd suggest going if you do need to catch up on some sleep. Otherwise, leave well alone and read the paper version.
