Undoubtedly one of the best action movies of all time. The revenge story has been overdone so many times before that John Wick was in serious trouble of being another mediocre action film with the same rehashed plot we’re all bored of by now; however, it is, in fact, a breath of fresh air, reinventing the revenge genre. The action sequences are like pieces of art, with long takes showing every detail in smooth, controlled accuracy without the annoying shaky camera you see in most films these days. But then what do you expect from two former stuntmen in the director’s chair? The noir colours are stunning, making it such a beautiful film to watch despite the rather large body count and multiple headshots. Not only that, but this is also one of Keanu Reeves greatest films in a long time, a major comeback into Hollywood which I’m sure every film lover is very pleased to see.
This is one of the most violent and brutal thriller that I have ever watched. Keanu Reeves stars in this often exhausting movie that left me scared as hell most of the time by the spate of killings.
The artistry that went into the filming of this movie is great. I enjoy the fast pace and the way the fight scenes are very well made. Even though this is an action thriller, the directors did add some humor along the way which for me made it more entertaining.
Reeves’ ability to make himself mysterious throughout was also impressive. The movie starts out like a quiet one, then actions begin when the first attack occurs. If you love violent action thrillers, this is for you.
Refreshing action scenes make this a thrilling ride of a film and plenty of people getting shot in the head just for the fun of it. John Wick is certainly as accurate as the film is directed with lots of short snappy shots and dialogue that ultimately leads to a story ending that as suspected moved onto John Wick 2. Probably one of the best action films out there at the moment.
Take a pissed off guy, give him a gun and let the action unfold. It's pretty hardcore and although the revenge story has been done to the death the new action scenes and noir feel to it hasn't. If you love full on action from start to finish but don't want to take killing bad guys to seriously then you'll love it, it's more for the men amongst you than women as there's very little romance or talking for that matter, just unlimited ammo and unlimited action.
