ahya Abdul-Mateen II is an American actor. He was born on July 15, 1986, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Abdul-Mateen initially pursued a career as an architect but eventually shifted his focus to acting, attending the Yale School of Drama to hone his craft.
Abdul-Mateen gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the iconic character, Cal Abar, in the HBO television series “Watchmen” (2019). His performance in the series, which tackled themes of race, identity, and social justice, earned critical acclaim and garnered him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series.
