This is a great watch if you’ve got your mates round on a Friday night whilst eating takeaway pizza; if you actually want to be scared though then perhaps this isn’t the film for you. Although slightly tense in some places, overall this film doesn’t actually frighten with any jump scares or graphic images. In fact, the trailer for Halloween was scarier than the film itself.

It started off promising with a very eerie scene of an asylum and carried on the tense thrill as Michael Myers escaped, and perhaps one of the most shocking scenes was him killing a girl in a public toilet in broad daylight.

After that though the film became simply ridiculous, it was as if Myers had superpowers or something the way he wasn’t even reacting to being horribly injured. It ended on a cliff hanger, not knowing whether Michael Myers was finally dead or not, leaving it open for more sequels which will no doubt be even worse than this modern remake. It’s worth the watch for the great beginning and for Jamie Lee Curtis’ acting, but just don’t expect anything much more.
